Project Description:
LARCAN, in partnership with Smart Connection Consultancy, was engaged by Moonee Valley City Council to undertake a feasibility study for the future infrastructure upgrade opportunities at Queens Park Swimming Pool. The study focused on delivering a strategic and evidence-based aquatic strategy for the Moonee Valley community, grounded in robust research, engagement, and operational insight. Based on the findings, LARCAN presented three design options with accompanying rationale, cost analysis, and funding strategies to support future redevelopment.
Project Deliverables:
- Conducted demographic research to assess current and future community profiles in the local area.
- Analysed national and international aquatic industry trends to inform long-term planning.
- Facilitated internal stakeholder engagement to incorporate operational and strategic insights.
- Undertook an operational review of the facility to identify opportunities to optimise visitation and financial sustainability.
- Delivered competitor and gap analysis to position Queens Park Pool within the broader aquatic and recreation network.
- Reviewed existing programs and assessed their feasibility in relation to future service needs.
- Assessed relevant strategic documents and Council-commissioned reports relating to the LGA and the local site.
- Provided design advice informed by community research and stakeholder engagement to ensure future facility alignment with community needs.
- Identified emerging trends influencing the future direction of aquatic infrastructure and integrated these insights into the design recommendations.
- Developed three design options tailored to meet community needs, supported by clear rationale and cost analysis.
- Investigated and outlined potential funding streams to support future works and development aligned to the design recommendations.
